A. Vane Miller Scholarship

The Reverend A. Vane Miller served as pastor of First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs from 1956 to 1962. Following his pastorate he and his wife, Evelyn, made Excelsior Springs their retirement home.

Reverend Miller was always very interested in and worked with the young people of the First United Methodist Church. When he passed away in 1979, the A. Vane Miller Trust Fund was set up and yearly earnings from those funds pay a $500 scholarship to any graduating senior who is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs and plans to attend an institution of postsecondary education.

Graduating seniors are asked to fill out the application form and to write a one-page essay of 200-250 words answering three questions regarding the church and their faith with God. Applications are due by May 1 of each year.

If you are a member of our church and a graduating senior, please download the A. Vane Miller Scholarship Application, fill it out, and return it to our church by May 1 to receive your $500 scholarship.
