Houston Mission

You’re invited to join us on our church’s mission trip to Houston, TX Sunday, July 29 to Thursday, Aug. 2.

How much will this cost?

Cost of the trip is still being worked out, but will mostly involve food and transportation. We will have access to a fridge and microwave. The other meals will be catered. We will either caravan or rent a van.

What will we be doing?

During our mission, we will be rehabbing houses in Houston with SBP.  SBP is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping families after natural disasters. We will have on-the-job training and will be doing some type of construction work. There will be a project leader that will go over exactly what we will be doing.

For more information, visit their website SBPUSA.org

Where will we stay?

We will be staying at The Story Houston. This is a United Methodist Church that opened their doors almost four years ago. The pastors, Eric and Geovanna Huffman, are very good friends with Pastor Laura and Pastor Jeremy.

What will we need to bring?

Items to bring will include sleeping bags or inflatable beds, work clothes, toiletries (including towels for shower), swim clothes (we are going to try and find a place for the kids to swim if we have kids) and sunblock.

How long will we be staying?

The mission trip will begin Sunday, July 29 after church. We will head home Thursday, Aug. 2.

Ready to join the mission?

If you or your family would like to be part of this Mission Trip, contact the church office at 816-637-2138 or email Pastor Laura.
